Rolling Thunder

The Kartweb parent company Rolling Thunder Multimedia Productions (RTMP) has been working with a partner to develop a new video encoding technology that dramatically improves webcast quality.  Video signal encoding is a very complex technology and kart racing productions throw the biggest challenges at both production and encoding processes.

One of the reasons why you don't see more webcasting like what Kartweb provides is due to the high cost compared to simple graphics and text common to the internet.

Recently we began to apply the new wavelet technology to our videos.  The resolution factor is nearly 4 times higher then we previously used, however to enable this technology to work in the standard Windows Media Viewer our audience is accustomed to, the file sizes are 50% larger.  Previously we encoded at a data rate of 768,000 bits per second.  Stage 1 of Wavelet Technology is using 1,015,000 bits per second.

Our concern is there are a few older vintage DSL users that may be constrained to a data rate of 768,000 bits per second.  If you are one of those users, we want to know.

You can see this new technology at work in the Rotax Grand Nationals International Class trailer.

We encourage you to email comments on this new technology and the videos we have available.

We hope you enjoy our presentations, and continue to help us grow.  We are very proud to be the largest recreational webcasting operation in the world!
