2003 Rock Island Grand Prix
125cc Master Class Report from Kartweb
Qualifying Results
The largest shifter class with a field of 29 entries saw Sam Walls take the pole just a smidgeon ahead of Howie Idleson and reigning Champ John Kindhart. With a minimum age of 35 years old, the lap times are typically a few tenths slower then the 125cc Semi-Pro class, in part maybe due to the extra 10 lbs afforded the middle-aged drivers tend to have added.

Race Results
| Known among some circles as "The Geritol
Gang of G1", the 125cc Masters class provided an excellent race to watch.
Lots of passing going on, where the 125 Masters Drivers may not quite have
the reflex edge on the younger drivers, they definitely have the wisdom. John Kindhart a master in the rain worked his way up to the front with barley any further challenges. Jeff Carter kept working on passing Stacy Cook until he realized he was out of contention to catch the leader and settled back for 4th place. Phil Gordon was looking for a way around Jeff, but the hole never opened for him to get by. Texan bred John Kindhart took his second Rock in a row home for the Masters class with the Colorado gang of Sam Walls and Stacy Cook a few seconds behind. |
