The 2003 SKUSA
SuperNationals is just under two weeks away and excitement continues to
build. Announced October 30, 2003, the Formula Ford Zetec Champion
Series is providing free race entry and test entry fees for all official
2004 Zetec Championship events. This generous award, worth $20,000 each
will be presented to the top three (3) finishers in the “SuperPro”,
“Formula S1” and “Junior” classes at the SuperNationals.
In combination,
these nine drivers represent a $180,000 offering from Jon Baytos of
Formula Motorsports, Inc. “Clearly, this prize offer represents a
significant positive financial impact for any of the nine fortunate
SKUSA members that choose to pursue the F2000 Zetec Championship for
2004” reported Jim Murley SKUSA CEO.
Additionally,
Bobby Oregal of PR1 Motorsports, an F2000 Zetec Championship Team, will
further enhance this F2000 package by providing a full test for one
driver from each of the above mentioned classes and this test will be in
a PR1 F2000 Zetec car at Buttonwillow Raceway Park. PR1 will be
presenting this award to a driver of their choice from “SuperPro”,
Formula S1” and “Junior” selected during the running of the 7th
Annual SuperNationals at the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas November
13 through 16, 2003.
In other late
news; reliable sources indicated that Supercross Star, Travis Pastrana
will be entering the Formula S1 class at the SuperNationals and will
joining another motorcycle racing star, Jamie Hacking in FS1. James
“Bubba” Stewart was expected to join the other two-wheeled racers turned
kart fanatics but a scheduling conflict prohibited enough testing time.
Former Supercross Champion David Bailey will be in attendance as
spokesperson for the “Full Circle Foundation”; he may also do some laps
in a specially prepared hand controlled kart. Hacking will also join
X-Games multi sport champion Shaun Palmer, Supercross star Jeff Emig and
our own Scott Speed in the “Red Bull Celebrity Challenge”. According to
SKUSA Business Development Director, Craig Finer, other names to look
for in the Red Bull event and even the “Full On” SKUSA program include:
Paul Tracy, Buddy Rice, Lake Speed, Jeremy McGrath and “Bubba”. |
