S1 racing from the 2003 SuperNationals

S1 had an excellent turnout.  With 47 entries and only room for 40 in the Final, the Last Chance Qualifiers determined which 7 racers had Sunday off.  Using the controversial 2004 rules of combining Motos with ICC's, the S1 race may have been the source of the most discussion and speculation among the shifter community's many chat boards.  The feeling is generally that ICC's have a distinct advantage, a view even shared by many top motor builders.  During qualifying and warm-up sessions we noted which motors were mounted on which chassis for at least 39 of the 47.  There were a few that switched between Moto and ICC.  Nearly 2/3 of the field were ICC.  All of the better funded teams had ICC's.  As far as racing on the track went, the only difference was the distinctly different sound of the two motors.

Does the ICC have a advantage over the Moto?  You decide.
