Toledo Ohio- Grand Vitesse Racing, presenter of the Richest series in Kart Racing History has announced a schedule change for Round 1 of the series.

The event, originally scheduled for December 29, 2004, has been moved to Feb 4, 2005.

Rounds 1 and 2 of the Ten Round series will be contested as a "Double Header" weekend on the Ultra Smooth/Ultra fast surface at the Gainesville Raceway Road Course.

Grand Vitesse Racing's General Manager Glen Mazzone explains the reason for the change:
"We are trying to do something good for Karting.
The December 29, 2004 date was chosen with the thought many karters, being in the area for the WKA events would like to increase their racing enjoyment and contest an additional event.
Every attempt was made to complement, not compete with their (WKA's) schedule.
We tried to get the best people on board to hold this event, and to make this entire series an overwhelming success for the entire karting community.

Early on, many teams began to voice their concern regarding schedule conflicts.
As this race is Round 1 of a Ten Race $500,000 series, attendance is important!

Due to sponsorship commitments and budgetary concerns, many teams could not field an entry for both the WKA event and the PJ1/Grand Prix Distributing event.

In addition, Martin Casey, Chief of Tech was not going to be able to attend December 29 due to Family concerns."

By moving the race, all teams will have sufficient time to prepare their Karts and maximize their chance for success in this lucrative series."

Mazzone continued..."We are working with the teams that did enter, and returning all entry fees ASAP...we are also trying to help those entrants with expenses they may have incurred in planning to attend this race and offering financial credits towards their entry fee on the rescheduled date."

"Upon many discussions with those throughout the karting community, we feel this is the best thing to do at this time."

Entries are being accepted for Rounds 1 and 2 on February 5-6, a $50,000 Double Header Weekend.
