BERNTSEN JOINS IRON ROCK RACEWAY AS TRACK DIRECTOR
December 6, 2004 AUSTIN, TX Iron Rock
Raceway, Texas first superkart racing country club and racer education
facility, has appointed Chuck Berntsen as Track Director. Berntsen will
coordinate all track activities, including driver safety requirements,
track crew, timing and scoring, track configuration and lighting and
surface preparation.
Prior to joining Iron Rock Raceway, Berntsen was Chief Flagman for
Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) from 1999 until 2004. SKUSA is one of the
nation's leading kart racing sanctioning bodies. He was also Co-Promoter
and Race Director of the Portage Grand Prix in Portage, Indiana from
1994 to 1997.
I am very excited to be a part of the Iron Rock team, said Berntsen.
Iron Rock is a unique, top-notch facility and is a great opportunity for
me. With MRP on board as our full-service pro shop and viewing from
thousands of spectators each day from the airliners and passenger
terminal at Austin Bergstrom International, there is a huge opportunity
to bring many new racers into our sport from this location.
Racers know they can expect fair and equitable enforcement of rules and
a well-run program from Chuck, said Charlie Swayne, Iron Rock general
manager. We look forward to working with someone so well respected in
the racing community.
Iron Rock Raceway, one of the nation’s first country clubs devoted
primarily to kart racing, expects to open at the Austin-Bergstrom
International Airport in Austin, Texas, on January 15, 2005. Persons
interested in becoming a member should request an application at the
