2004 Season Summary

Are you really ready for the  2004 racing season?

Have we got the program for you!

The following is a summary of what the 2004 season has in store for the SKUSA Red River Region;

Race Format

There are 6 weekends of racing with each weekend being a double day race event, for a total of 12 races.  the top 10 of 12 races count towards championship, although 20 bonus points will be provided to those who attend all 12 races.

Friday will be reserved for practice, but don't feel it's necessary to be at the track for Friday practice.  There will be information available on baseline gearing expectations, so you can probably do just as well with AM race day practice.

Friday - Practice day

Saturday & Sunday - (2) Practice sessions,  3 laps to qualify, an 8 lap Pre-Final, and an 18 Lap Main.

Competition costs & controls

Series cost control was an important consideration in the program.  By reducing the number travel weekends to 6 (5 if you happen to miss one) limits your cost.  Tire costs were also strongly considered and a limit of one new set of tires for both race days is in effect.  There are provisions to allow emergency replacements with USED tires.

Entry Fees:

  • Pit Pass (Drivers and Crew members require 1 each) - $25
  • Each Race Day Event - $65 (Kid Karts $45)
  • Friday Practice - $25

Event Schedules

Part of raising the bar included plans for at least 1 spectator based event in 2004, and we have indeed met that goal.  The Austin even will be held in a shopping mall parking lot with event promotions being provided by a few of the local area auto dealers.  There are negotiations with SKUSA National to acquire the use of Tecpro barriers for this event.

Date Location
Feb 27-29 Hitchcock TX Dog Track (New Layout)
April 16-18 OMC Norman
April 30 - May 2 Denton
June 4-6 Austin Temp Circuit (Spectator Event)
July 16-18 Hitchcock TX Dog Track (New Layout)
Sept 10-12 OMC Norman

The new layout at Hitchcock takes most of the bumps out of the circuit so it should be a significant improvement.  The last race is the week before the combined Amateur Nationals/World Finals and is certain to be like a mini-national in itself.
