Grand Prix Distributing, The sole United States importer for VEGA
Tires has once again teamed with Grand Vitesse Racing to present the
largest cash purse event of the 2005 Karting season.
The weekend of December 3-4 2005 will now be known as: The Megabucks Vegas
Spectacular, Presented by Grand Prix Distributing.
The XPlex Motorsports complex will be a-buzz with America and the Worlds
best race drivers, competing in Kart racing's premier divisions.
Headlining the weekend will be a 5 Hour, multi-driver TaG endurance event
paying an unprecedented (by any promoter other than Grand Vitesse Racing)
$10,000 to Win.
In addition to the huge purse headline event, large prize money is also on
the line in a number of support races, including TaG Heavy, Rotax only,
ICC/Moto and ICA.
With so much at stake, tires always become a critical (and at times
controversial) factor.
Based upon competitor requests, and in conjunction with Grand Prix
Distributing, the following tire rules have been implemented:
TaG $10,000 to Win 5 Hour Race
Tire brand and compound UNRESTRICTED
A maximum of 3 complete sets (6 front, 6 rear) shall be employed.
TaG Heavy, Rotax $2,500 TO Win 2 Hour Races
Tire brand and compound UNRESTRICTED.
A maximum of 2 complete sets (4 front, 4 rear) shall be employed.
ICC/MOTO, ICA $2,000 to Win 25 LAP SPRINT RACES
Tire brand and compound UNRESTRICTED.
Teams must begin the race on the same tires with which they qualify.
Dash for Cash Races
Tire brand and compound UNRESTRICTED.
These tire rules are designed to provide yet another competitive element
in what is sure to be a fiercely contested weekend of premier division
Kart racing, according to Grand Vitesse Racing's General Manager Glen
Mazzone. "In the longer endurance races, strategic planning and execution
in the pits is just as important as
what takes place on the track. With these, more open, tire rules, yet
another challenge is placed on the crew chiefs as well as the
drivers....Will they opt to start the race on hard compound tires, and
save a set of ultra-soft gumballs for a final end of race push...Or
perhaps use soft tires for an early lead, then a more durable
compound...Maybe an intermediate compound, and fewer tire changing pit
stops...it is up to them."
While tire brand is unrestricted, competitors might want to consider using
the VEGA brand tire!
Grand Prix Distributing, the sole USA importer of VEGA, personifies the
concept of supporting the sport of Karting, and exemplifies this through
their continued sponsorship of this and other Karting events.
In addition to the enormous cash prizes offered by Grand Vitesse Racing,
the "Brothers Giacomelli" are designing a custom contingency program for
this event, guaranteed to make it even more lucrative to "Win on VEGAS"!
Full details of this exciting contingency program will be announced as
soon as they become available.
