Rock Island Grand Prix November Newsletter |
| |
A big congratulations to all of the champions from Stars, SKUSA,
Manufacturer's Cup, TAG, etc. who are Rock Island alumnus !!
Before we get into the busy holiday season we'd like to take care of
communicating a few items with you.* First, the bad news. The
block of rooms at the Four Points Hotel, which was increased this
year from 90 rooms to 110, is already full and has been for several
weeks. The good news is that means we're headed for another awesome
turnout. |
|
We will have a block at the Radisson in downtown Davenport and
probably several other hotels as in the past. But if you don't have
reservations at 4 Points, you're too late except for getting on the
waiting list. * Next, we had a couple of items left in tech at
this year's event that racers might want back. Included, believe it
or not, are 2 motors !!
* We have one racer who, despite repeated phone calls, has not
returned his exhaust can from this year's race. Besides the calls,
we have sent an invoice charging him for it. This has been ignored,
too. Our next step will be |
|
|
to call his local sheriff and report it stolen. We also have another
racer who has not made good on a bad check. Our next option is to
turn that over to the states attorney, since bad checks are against
the law. We don't want to do this, but we have to keep the lid on
this or everyone will start taking advantage of us. If you know
these individuals, tell them they are running out of chances. * We
had 2 large sponsor banners stolen off the front of The Argus
building on Sunday night after racing. If anyone has these, or knows
anything about their whereabouts, please return them or let us know
and no questions will be asked. Otherwise, theft, vandalism, stolen
cans, bad checks, etc., are costs we will have to pass along to the
racers.
* We will be meeting between now and the end of the year to discuss
classes for 2006 and rules changes. We'd be happy to hear any
suggestions in this regard. We'd also like to hear from any ICA and
Jr. Animal drivers as to whether they would like to race here in
2006. Due to low entries, those classes are "on the bubble."
That's all for now. From all of us in Rock Island, have a happy and
joyous holiday season .... and stay safe !!
