2006 ROTAX WORLD FINALS FROM MORAC

There are hundreds, maybe even a thousand National Karting titles.  There are only 3 genuine World Championship titles in karting;
  • Rotax RM1 - 32 entries
  • Rotax Senior - 50 entries
  • Rotax Junior - 47 entries

Each of the 127 entries qualified to race in their respective National Championship

Series.  Then they had to make top 2 in their Nation among the 37 countries represented.

Coming up on top of these three rounds of eliminations culminate in the most prestigious title a karter could ever earn.  Adding to the ranking of these titles are the virtually identical nature of the machines raced in each class.

Class Chassis Power
Rotax Jr Swiss Hutless Magic FR125 Jr
Rotax Sr CRG Havana FR125
RM1 Sodi DD2

The  sixth annual Rotax World Finals returned to 2001 World Finals home Malaysia at the spectacular Morac facility. Malaysia is located near the equator between Singapore and Thailand.  Tropical climates go hand in hand with heavy rainstorms and this year was no exception.  Opening rounds of Thursday practice had a bit of spotty weather, and through the night a gully washer came through.   Being accustomed to the climate the track officials quickly siphoned off the lake inside the track with a minimal of delay.

Racing was in a word simply spectacular.  Topping off the quality of this event was a first ever live video webcast that gave the karting a sneak peak at the broadcast technology coming to karting in 2006.
