CENTRAL DIVISION RACING BRIEFS
After several years of building the Southwest Racing Association into one of the most successful Long Track Series in the country, SWRA President Gary Robinson stepped down from his post with his resignation effective Feb 28 2006.  Citing a growing burden of karting politics, Gary and wife Vickie have decided to step back from karting.

SWRA made a bold move this year to separate from IKF sanctioning in part to allow a inter-series competition at selected events with the leading central division organization KART.  Two races were put on the calendar as joint SWRA-Mid America Road Racing Series (MARRS) events with the first cranking up at Texas Motor Speedway in a few weeks.  However to accomplish a joint venture SWRA took an independent path, a move popular among several club members, but not all.  As they say "you can't make everyone happy".

Because of Gary's resignation on Feb. 28th 2006, SWRA has formed a 9 member advisory board to get this season underway, included are the following members:

Jeff Beyer, Firouz Haghighi, Jeff Kester, Jim McMillan, Mike Mitchell, Tommy Muth, Kevin Pool, John Sester, Randy Wise.

The following members have agreed to step into positions and make sure everything runs smoothly this year:

President - Jim McMillan

Vice-President - Jeff Kester

Treasurer - Hank Cantrell

Secretary - Donna Summers

Regional Racing fires up the year for the central division at two tracks this weekend as days get longer and the fever gets stronger;

South West Racing Challenge (SWRC) opens the season at Norman Oklahoma this weekend just in time to draw several top national teams in for some pre-Stars tour live practice.  Expect the ICC grids to be chock full of the names we'll be reading about through the year along with some of the regional regulars.  TAG should be huge as well now that Stars has added the TAG class to their format.

A word of warning;  Oklahoma has been under one of the driest periods in history with fire risk at the limit of danger levels.  There will be no outside fires, including BBQ grills.

KART Southern Series kicks off the season 2 hours to the south of OMC at the renowned Denton Texas facility.  Featuring a family oriented atmosphere of fun the KART series is sure to offer some great racing value for the racer families in the division.  This series also features the traveling Rotax Max Challenge events planned for the central division this year.
