Over the years the number of National Events kept growing.
It wasn't enough to have a couple of National Races so the "National
Race Series" was invented. The funny thing was most of these
"National races" were confined within a few regions - a Division -
and really weren't National races at all.
In 2005 we quietly introduced the Divisional concept when we
released the Regional Race Schedules. As we observed the
entries through the year one thing became very apparent - for
geographic and cultural reasons we don't have 3 small national
organizations, we have 3 different divisional organizations.
Each of them may hold a National event but frankly few of the
"National" racers ever compete outside their Division. If only
a few karters are willing to travel beyond their Divisional
boundaries, even fewer will travel more then halfway across the
country for a single event.
For 2006 Race events that are not genuine National Status have
been demoted to Divisional Status. That eliminated 41 events
from a National Status leaving 14 - which is still about 9 too many.
One step at a time.
One of the ideals that has been echoing across the karting
community for many years now is over the concept of a single united
National Championship. It won't happen overnight but that
possibility is getting much closer every year. Through
structuring competition arena into 3 Divisions for the recreational
karter opens the door to this ideal. There is still much work
to do to make this feasible and we need your support to achieve this
ideal.
The 2006
National Race Schedule has some of the TrackLinks in place with
more coming. There are two premiere races identified that are
held in the center of the US and will be among the best of the year.
We encourage you add at least one of these two envents to your 2006
racing plans. |
