ROTAX 2006 NATIONAL SCHEDULE
The Grand National is the proving ground for the best RMax drivers in North America. After a year of racing at the local level and qualifying through Regional events, the best Rotax drivers in North America compete for a chance to represent America's Team and race against the best in the world at the Rotax World Finals.

The 2006 Grand National will be held September 29th - October 1st at Miller Motorsports Park in Salt Lake City, UT.

Rotax World Final
From the US Grand National the top 3 from the Jr. Max, Sr. Max, and DD2 Max classes (1st, 2nd and 3rd place)(9 drivers) will be invited to compete at the Rotax World Finals (location to be announced in late January '06). Hotel room (1) bed per driver will be paid, equipment, kart, engine, tool box, and pit will be paid. Airfare will be the responsibility of the drivers. In addition, RMax will invite (3) additional drivers from the Jr. Max, Sr. Max, and DD2 Max classes (4th, 5th, and 6th place)(9 drivers) and the Champion of the Master Class (1 driver), however these drivers will be responsible for paying 100% of all costs which will be announced at a later date.

  • Invites - 4th,5th,6th in Jr. Max, Sr. Max, DD2 Max + Master Champion- (10) drivers

US Grand National
The top 15 in each class form the East Grand Regional, the top 15 in each class from the West Grand Regional, the top 2 in each class from the Caribbean, the top 2 in each class from Costa Rica, the top US Grand National winner (Wes Phillips) and the top America's Team finisher at the World Finals (James Kennedy) will fill the grids at the 2006 Grand National.

  • United States - 30 per class, 5 classes, total-150 drivers
  • Caribbean - 2 per class, 5 classes, total-10 drivers
  • Costa Rica - 2 per class, 5 classes, total-10 drivers
  • 2005 National Champion - Wes Phillips (Must compete in '06 G. Regional)
  • 2005 Top American at World Finals - James Kennedy (Must Compete in '06 G. Regional)

US Grand Regionals
At the end of the 2006 season the East and West Grand Regionals will provide an opportunity for RMax Members to experience and compete in one of the largest and most exciting karting events in North America.  Each RMax local series is designated in the East or West Region.  Both East and West Grand Regionals will be evening races under track lighting.

To qualify for the East Regional an RMax Member with a valid Competitor's License must compete in 4 Official RMax Challenge events before July 5th, 2006.  To qualify for the West Regional an RMax Member with a valid Competitor's License must compete in 4 Official RMax Challenge events before July 31st, 2006.  You MUST compete in all 4 local series to attend the Grand Regionals, NO WAIVERS WILL BE PERMITTED.

From the East and West Grand Regional the top 15 in each class will qualify to compete in the 2006 US Grand National and a chance to become a member of America's Team at the 2006 World Finals!

2006 Updates & Changes

  • Front brakes are optional for Jr. Max, Sr. Max and Master Class. Mandatory front brakes for DD2 Max and no front brakes for Mini Max.
  • Local Series Directors have the option between running the Mojo or a Bridgestone tire (compound determined by Series Director). The tire that is choosen will be the only tire used at the local level all year long. The Mojo tire will be used at the Grand Regionals and Grand National.
  • Jr. weight is now 320 lbs
  • RM1/DD2 class is no longer restricted to the original Sodi Kart RM1 chassis.  Other chassis as approved will available through the year including manufacturers like Birel, Arrows, CRG, and Tony.
