Moormeister and Schrum drafted for 2006 racing season
January 26, 2005 The Southwest Regional Cup will add two of the
nationšs most respected karting professionals to its series team in
2006, according to SWRC officials. Don Schrum will become SWRC Race
Director. Don Moormeister will act as Technical Director.
A veteran race official, Schrum was on the board of directors, then
vice president of North Texas Karters for nine years. During that
time, he worked with the SKUSA A Team at their Nationals, KART
Regionals and Nationals, SWRC and other kart races throughout Texas.
Don obviously has the credentials necessary to create the kind of
professional series wešre striving for, said Charlie Swayne, of Iron
Rock Raceway.
Moormeister, currently assistant tech director for Stars of Karting,
has an impressive history with karting spanning 40 years. In that
time, he was Tech Director for the IKF region for 10 years, as well
as the SKUSA SuperNationals, Momo Grand Priz, Iron Man, Tustin
Thunder and many others.
Technical Director is a really important position and the hardest
job on race day, said Berryhill. That's why we felt it was important
to hire the best. Don will be a big plus to the program this year,
especially considering his experience with STARS, Winter Tour and
IKF series.
By hiring Schrum and Moormeister, SWRC hopes to boost its reputation
further, from being the best regional program in Southwest to being
one of the best in the US.
SWRC 2006 will include both a Spring and Summer series. That
schedule is:
Spring Series
Event #1 March 11 - 12
Oklahoma Motorsports Complex, Norman, OK
Event #2 April 8 - 9
Iron Rock Raceway, Austin, TX
Event #3 May 7 - 8
