Guelph, Ontario – February 6, 2006. – After a weekend off in the
Florida Winter Tour Series schedule, Eric Gerrits and his
FirstKart.com squad will get back into race trim this coming weekend
at Moroso Motorsports Park in Jupiter, FL. The Sharon, Ontario
resident already has one series win this season as he begins his
quest for the overall series championship.
Gerrits, who is the defending Canadian National Champion, claimed
the checkers in the first race day of the season in the Rotax Senior
class two weeks ago at Homestead / Miami Speedway in Homestead, FL.
A threat for victory every time he hits the track, Gerrits is the
man to watch as he looks to make a run at several series
championships in 2006.
Last year was a great season for the 19-year-old as he claimed the
Canadian National Championship and had the opportunity to represent
his country in Malaysia at the Rotax World Finals. Before that
memorable weekend, Gerrits was also able to secure the Rotax Senior
Ontario Grand National Championship in fine form, as he won the race
to the flag by more the twenty seconds.
“2005 was a great year for my family and me as we were able to win a
lot of races,” explained an excited Gerrits. “With the high profile
championships claimed last year, the competition is out to beat us
this year and I am ready for the challenge. This would not be
possible if it was not for my sponsors and parents, especially my
dad, who acts as my tuner.”
The Canadian driver will look to build off the success of past
seasons results with the hopes of making this year the best yet.
Gerrits next on track activity will be this coming weekend at the
second round of Formula Kart’s Florida Winter Tour. The talented
Canadian will return to the site of his first victory in ’05, Moroso
Motorsports Park, with the hope of taking the lead in the overall
series point’s championship for Rotax Senior.
