PRESS RELEASE
LISSONE, MILANO, ITALY – Birel SpA is pleased to announce the 2006 Birel chassis line, now already becoming available in North America from MRP Motorsport and their nationwide dealer network. The new 2006 chassis are marked by the technical evolutions developed by the Birel Racing Division, which already proved successful during the most prestigious events of the racing season in 2005.

“Our Birel Motorsport Division did not spare on any effort in developing the best chassis available,” said Ronni Sala, President of Birel Motorsport. “We are looking to build on our 2005 successes, with winning the World Cup, the European title as well as the STARS of Karting title in the ICC categories.”

For 2006, updates include a new option labeled “X”. The models marked with an “X” showcase an adjustable wheelbase design thanks to a new bearing cassette housing design. The wheelbase can be quickly changed from 1040 mm to 1054 mm, providing a great advantage on fast circuits with wide sweeping turns. This should allow an even more competitive chassis for varying track types and surfaces. The CRx32-SC, CMx32-SC and both the 100cc/ICA/Rotax chassis of choice, the Rx32-SC and Mx32-SC incorporate this adjustment.

In addition, the entire “32mm” line (CMx32-SC, CRx32-SC, Rx32-SC and Mx32-SC) have updated their designs and added new features for durability, adjustability and driveability. One of the features is in the chassis construction itself, utilizing the standard 32mm tube construction, but incorporating 30mm cross tubes. The changes have shown in testing to provide an overall better balance under both acceleration and braking. These “R-series” chassis feature a completely new design of the central part of the chassis’s cross-tubes with bends to the central and rear cross bars. In testing, both the ‘R’ and ‘M’ series chassis found increase stability and grip on corner entry as well.

This will be the first year for the new chassis homologations, which will be valid for six years based on the CIK regulations. For this reason, the timing was right for Birel to design an even stronger and more durable chassis line then aver before. All race karts have redesigned spindle yokes with added reinforcements for strength. A new spindle design is put into production in all of the karts that don’t have front brakes and steering column has also been fitted to increase adjustability and durability.

All the 2006 models of the 125cc and 100cc chassis line are identified by the abbreviation “SC” and equipped with all the top line accessories available from Freeline. Integration of adjustments include castor and camber as well as removable front, side and optional rear stabilizer bars. Official Freeline CIK03 bodywork is outfitted to each chassis with Motorsport livery also available. Chassis construction continues to be at the forefront in the karting market, with each chassis undergoing painstaking quality control both in structure and look before leaving the Lissone, Italy factory, then again once into the United States.
