WOODBRIDGE 2006 SEASON HIGHLIGHTS

As one of the premier East Coast racing leagues, Woodbridge Kart Club (WKC)  is moving forward with 2006 plans in a big way.  Under the leadership of the colorful Bernie Adamson they race the WKC members are treated to some of the best Road Courses in the Mid-Atlantic states including the Virginia International Raceway.

Previously running under the WKA banner, WKC chose to run as their own exclusive club without WKA sanctioning for 2006.  This enabled a few exciting new prospects for long track racing with the addition of new classes.

Stock Honda CR 125 is the new shifter class that is growing rapidly on the west coast and is a stepping-stone between Spec 125 and full blown Motos and ICC.  Closely following the Stock Moto Standards they may be choosing a spec pipe but details have not yet been cast in stone.

Jr TAG is a popular sprint racing class that uses a restricted header to reduce horsepower.   With performance closer to an ICA then a Yamaha, adding Jr TAG is a natural for Jr racers to compete on a full sized track.  Most Jr TAG motors can be updated to a Sr version for under $100.

A new Cadet class for the youngest of our drivers ages 8-11 has been added for 2006. Cadets will be able to run standard CIK Cadet karts with 80cc Comer engines, or larger size CIK karts with KT-100s and a highly restricted Walbro carb. Cadets will have their own practice and race, and will not be on the track with anyone else (with the possible exception of senior “chaperon” to observe and help the kids in post practice de-brief). In addition, they will enjoy the benefits of a special training program developed by the club before they set a tire on the Summit Point race surface.

WKC will develop its own licensing procedures similar to the license endorsement provided by WKA. Full licensing procedures will be published very soon, but in a nutshell WKC licenses will be granted by the newly formed Competition License Committee (CLC). Participation in each WKC class will require a specific grade of WKC license.

WKC will host three “special” series during our regular club season at Summit Point and VIR. The “Maxxis USF 125 Series” (laydown 125 shifter karts) will join us at VIR and the September race at Summit. These things are seriously fast and great to watch. And if you’re into speed, the”USA Super Karts” (the rockets of the kart world) have been invited to join us at VIR. Last, but certainly not the least, the newly formed “SUPER ONE” series will run its 20 Championship classes at VIR and the July Summit Point Race. WKC is also working on invitations to Dart Kart Club and the NH Karting Association to come race with them on one or more of our dates.
