October 12-13 Race Report Saturday brought partly cloudy skies with thin 80° air, perfect for racing. As over 40 entries joined in Saturday, the Red River region took the honors of having the highest season total entry count for all SKUSA Regions in 2002. In the Fall season entries typically drop some due to new season commitments (academics is usually high on the list), budgets strains, and just plain season fatigue. This meet provided some welcome relief by concluding Saturday's events of practice, qualifying, and race 1 an hour ahead of schedule. Early Sunday morning the north winds brought in a cold front with temps in the 60's. The air may have cooled, but the racing heated up! A summary of the finishes are below by class. Several folks ran under existing track records at the North Texas Karters facility. Michael Brookes in K1 provided some in car video that will be edited and posted later this week. It was also announced that Regional Director Rodney Berryhill had to make plans to be overseas during the last scheduled SKUSA Red River race (Nov 23-24, Norman) and was considering alternative dates. Watch the forum for updates and feel free to provide positive input. Please remember compromise will be required to accommodate all the great competitors in the Red River Region.

60 Novice Running under the 60 Novice track record NTK of 39.19, Reid Miller lead the pack to the checker with a 5 second margin.
Rotax Jr These evenly matched power plants provide some great racing action. Red River Region also has some of the fastest young ladies in America racing in this class, and sometimes winning. With a terrific 3 way battle going on in the final between Jordan Blissit, Drew Cleaver, and Cory Phelps, a tangle between them occurred in lap 8, resulting in Cory's retirement. Finishing on top and turning laps under the NTK record of 38.37 was Brad Coleman.
Formula 80 Jr Most of these young chargers have at least a full season of shifter racing among some fast competitors. Half of the field runs in the ProMoto series. Each race was action packed and incident free. Brad Coleman and CR Crews put on a great show with clean passes and counter passes. Garret Napier showed some real strength winning the first two heats. CR Crews brought home the bacon for the final, again running under the NTK Track Record of 37.01. ( It was only a few years ago that 125's broke under 37 seconds at NTK!)
RotaxMax With a relatively small turnout for RotaxMax, the competitors still had a load of fun. Erin Dodson and Justin Melton crossed over into run with the Seniors
FIC/K1/S1 Running these 3 classes together added to the excitement for those racing. Ryan Kinnear showed dominant K1 performance coming off his podium finish from the World Finals. Ross Smith showed some strong runs in the first two heats in his Pavesi powered FIC, but found himself parked in the tire wall halfway into the first lap of the main. The real racing action was between Chuck Herber and Robert Coreale. A strong duel found Chuck first to the finish line. K1
