Race 5 4 Cycle Stock Jr II Race Report

A field of 17 Juniors came to race all hoping to be the "won".  This being the first year for cash prizes given to Juniors added some incentive for the win.  This also the only Jr class to race at the Rock Island Grand Prix.

On the start the eager field of Juniors quickly learned they could not go 7 wide into an opening that only fit 6, with one of them to test the structural integrity of  mid-western hay likely baled by a John Deere machine manufactured locally.  As the field went past, the hay bale tester was extracted from the bale and sent on their way.  Chad Patch managed to turn the fastest lap of the race in his first and only lap before retiring.  Tim Goettsch and Matt Duncombe and Richie Kuhn set out to the laed pack while Matt Pewe was making a charge up from his 8th position starting place.  Four laps in Richie Kuhn caused a red flag and the race was restarted.
