As expected for July in east Texas,  The weather was hot, in the upper 90's with humidity to match.

The  Oak Hill layout is kind of like a big sprint course or a tight road course.  Designed primarily as a motorcycle racing circuit it offers a track perfectly suited to the nature of a shifter.  With 125 top speeds of about 100 MPH, there are several3rd gear  turns with at least one second gear turn.  The track is built on rolling hills with plenty of elevation change.  Turn 1 is flatout at 80mph, and there is a kink down the straight between 1 and 2 that has a bump (more like a little jump) that tosses the kart a few feet to the right.  A little unnerving the first time you cross it at triple digit speeds, but after a while you actually find yourself looking forward to it again.

During the Saturday heats at about 1:00PM the +140° pavement began to come up at the braking point into turn 2, laying down a coat of marbles on the braking zone, sending 9 karts off in a matter of a few laps, and the race was black-flagged.  It was determined that Saturdays results would be settled with only 1 heat, and Sunday would heats would be started early with one heat/class also.

The ambulance rolled twice, once on Saturday for the 80 Jr race, once on Sunday for the 80Sr race.  This was the normal prcautionary measure and there were no injuries beyond some bruises.

Competition was closes, especially in Sunday's 125 LTD race.

Finishing Orders and some video to be added soon.
