Introduction to Race Studio Software

Introduction

Race Studio is designed as two programs;

Race Studio  is a program designed to interface (configure) the Mychron Data Logger.

Race Studio Analysis is the analysis program.

Different release streams version 1.X and version 2.X do pretty much the same things, but not all the same way.  Some later versions don't support earlier products.  Installation has a Selection Table to match the product to the best version.

Race Studio Analysis is where most of the work is done.  Information From each channel can be turned on & off, and have various colors assigned to the graphs.  Graphs are presented as laps, and any lap within a session can be opened.  Comparisons of laps can be overlayed from within the same session or from other sessions.  Graphs can be presented as Plot vrs Time, Plot Vrs Distance, Histogram, and comparisons of any segment of the track in whatever format you can imagine.

There are 3 Videos that have been produced in Flash to help you understand Mychron's Race Studio software.  Nearly all DA systems operate on the same principals.

Race Studio Analysis 2.X Screenshots

Plot Vrs Time

This view shows a single lap with data from Speed, RPM, and EGT along with a Trackmap.  The left column indicates the channels and color selections, and the vertical black line on the graph corresponds with the Crosshair on the Trackmap.  Note the Trackmap is already split into segments.  At the bottom is a chart of laps in the session, and there are other views that give details and selectability of laps of interest.

Plot Vrs Distance

This view shows sensor readings across a lap based on distance.  Note the green/red/blue segments of the track are shown at the top of the graph.  You can turn on/off any channels, and overlay laps.

Time Comparison

There are several ways to view comparisons of laps, but this view provides differentials by segments.  Very handy to identify the best lines to drive.  You can load between 1-8 laps.

While there are plenty of other good screens to view, these are just a few to sample.  Knowing what to look for and where to look for it is the objective and there is no magic bullet to give you full utilization from day 1.  That's why we've written and compiled this series of guides and videos.  A few hours of your time on learning how to use this data up front can save you countless hours and dollars in testing and set up down the road.
